Is putting a towel on the receiver coil to protect the Scalar less efficient?

The scalar field is going to go right through the towel like it isn't there. But if there are chemicals like fabric softener on the towel, or if it is a man-made fiber, it doesn't strike me as being a very good idea.

I've covered my equipment for different reasons, one being dust. It works just fine.
